Dr. Cockburn describes the paper below:

One of the highlights of this paper is that it provides a useful conceptual framework for drawing on some key social science concepts and theories to better understand and support dynamic transformative change processes in SES and resource nexus contexts. The literature on sustainability transformations and transdisciplinarity calls for deeper work with existing social science theories. This paper offers a conceptual guide for how one can do that, within and across cases and contexts.

The paper forms the anchor of a special issue (collection) in the journal 'Ecosystems and People' which we have been co-guest-editing with Nadia Sitas from Stellenbosch University, myself (Jessica Cockburn) and Matthew Weaver (both from Rhodes University). This is now also very nearly complete. It is a rich collection of papers contributing a mostly Global South perspective on transformation and transdisciplinarity for SES sustainability. Please take a look at it!
