Transdisciplinary Evaluation Learning Lab
Hosted by TRANSECTS and the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region
A fully funded learning experience in Saskatchewan for students and postdoctoral fellows, designed to build transdisciplinary competencies through collaborative learning and practical experience in evaluating transdisciplinary research projects.
The TELL provides students and postdoctoral fellows with opportunities to strengthen their professional, relational, and intercultural skills and to learn how Ripple Effects Mapping can be used to support transdisciplinary research projects in the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region.
- Work onsite at the University of Saskatchewan and the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region with a team of trainees, mentors, and practitioners.
- Virtually connect with TELLs in South Africa and Germany, offering unique opportunities for international collaboration and shared learning.
- Develop a deeper understanding of participatory evaluation and transdisciplinary research and practice.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Accepting active students (Senior Undergraduates, Master’s, or PhD) or Postdoctoral Fellows at the University of Saskatchewan or Vancouver Island University during the TELL. Students and postdoctoral fellows from any department or disciplinary background are welcome and encouraged to apply. Online participation (May 10-28) and onsite participation (June 13-27) are required. This includes a mandatory overnight trip to the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region, where sharing a bedroom will be required.
The online portion of TELL will consist of a virtual webinar series running from May 10 to 28, 2027. Active participation is required for all webinars. Sessions will be held in the morning in Saskatchewan (CST/UTC-6). Specific dates and times will be provided closer to the start of the program.
The onsite portion of the TELL is a full-time program taking place from June 13 to 27, 2027. Participation from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, as well as in additional activities outside of working hours, is required.
LOCATION
TELL 2027 will take place in Saskatchewan, with activities hosted at both the University of Saskatchewan and the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region during the onsite program from June 13 to 27.
While TELL 2027 will be connected with partner TELL programs in Germany and South Africa, participant exchanges will occur virtually. Selected applicants will remain in Saskatchewan and will not travel to the other TELL locations.
COST
Expenses for travel and living in the region will be covered by TRANSECTS. Participants will also receive a monthly stipend for local transportation, meals, and other additional costs of participation.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Strong English skills, both written and spoken. A professional recommends you for funding through the program. Your application package and referee form are submitted within the given timeframe.
CREDIT
USask students who enroll in the TELL for credit can complete it as a 6-credit course.
