TRANSECTS

Denise Margaret Matias is a Professor in Ecosystem-based Transformation Management in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves at the Biosphere Reserves Institute (BRI) of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE). Prior to joining BRI, Denise held research and postdoctoral positions in projects focusing on grasslands sustainability, climate change adaptation, and indigenous forestry livelihoods. She graduated from the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn with a PhD in Agricultural Sciences and is an Associate of the indigenous network Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP) Asia. She is currently a Lead Author of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) thematic assessment on the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health. She was a mentor of the first TRANSECTS Mini-TILL in summer of 2022.
