Wayne Twine is Associate Professor of ecology in the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences, and Director of the Wits Rural Knowledge Hub, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.  He is permanently based at the Wits Rural Campus, which is situated in the transition zone of the Kruger to Canyon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.  Wayne has over twenty years of experience in socio-ecological research, working in multi-disciplinary, multi-national teams.  His research interests include natural resource use, sustainable rural livelihoods, community based natural resource management, and savanna ecology..
