Prof Mags Blackie is an associate professor at the Centre for Higher Education Research, Teaching and Learning at Rhodes University in Makhanda, South Africa. She holds a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Cape Town and spent the first twelve years of her independent research career at Stellenbosch University balancing medicinal chemistry research, education research and teaching theology. She was awarded the South African Chemical Institute’s education medal and SU’s distinguished teaching award in 2020. She undertook a second PhD in science education at Stellenbosch University. Since moving to Rhodes University she has chosen to focus her efforts on higher education. She has a strong interest in transciplinary education and is excited to join the TRANSECTS team to broaden her experience.
