Peter Spathelf, born in 1963, is a professor for applied silviculture at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (since 2006). After having studied forestry sciences at Freiburg University during 1983 -1988, he entered the state forest service of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. In 1997 he finished his PhD at the Institute for Forest Growth (University of Freiburg). From 1998 until 2001 he was a lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the Brazilian Federal University of Santa Maria. He was Dean of the Faculty of Forest and Environment at Eberswalde University from 2016-2019. Moreover, he is in charge of climate change and forest adaptation with the German Forestry Association (Deutscher Forstverein).
