TRANSECTS

Taryn Pereira is a transdisciplinary activist researcher within the environmental justice movement in South Africa. She is currently based at the Environmental Learning Research Centre, at Rhodes University. For the past 5 years she has been part of the One Ocean Hub, a transdisciplinary research hub focused on contributing to transformed and transformative ocean governance. She coordinates the Coastal Justice Network, a knowledge action network of small scale fisher leaders and other coastal rights holders, researchers and civil society organisations, responding to environmental injustices in the coastal and marine context. 

Taryn is a PhD scholar at the RU ELRC, where she is considering ways to strengthen relational solidarity between academic researchers and community-based activists and movements for environmental justice.
