Gary Merasty, SENS Senior Advisor, Indigenous and External Relations, in support of Orange Shirt Day

The SENS community came together on September 30 for a meaningful exchange marking Orange Shirt Day 2020.

Gary’s talk is a personal reflection and perspective on his role in the federal government's apology to residential school survivors. From his time growing up on his home reserve in northern Saskatchewan (Pelican Narrows) to the halls of the Canadian House of Commons as a former Member of Parliament, Gary will share his experiences regarding his family's time at various residential schools, honoring the bravery of numerous residential school survivors who pushed for justice and the extensive political work of many to make the apology a reality.

For SENS leadership, staff, and students, orange was the colour on September 30.
