Yvonne Vizina, PhD student, receives Aboriginal Achievement Award
Yvonne Vizina, SENS PhD candidate, received the Award for Research Excellence during U of S Aboriginal Achievement Week at a ceremony on March 2, 2017.
Yvonne is part of the Sustainability and Education Policy Network and is examining sustainability practices and policies in Aboriginal post-secondary education across Canada and how these processes influence community-based conservation and environmental decision-making at local, national and international levels. Yvonne is a graduate of SUNTEP in Prince Albert and has a master's in education from the U of S. She has been involved in major research studies with First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities over the past ten years. Yvonne believes in the foundational role of traditional Aboriginal knowledges in holistic thinking, education and environmental decision-making.
