By SENS CommunicationsThe School of Environment and Sustainability is pleased to invite nominations for two awards for students pursuing our Certificate in Sustainability.
The Certificate in Sustainability Excellence Award will be awarded to a student who has completed their certificate requirements between May 2020 and April 2021. This student will have demonstrated a strong understanding of sustainability perspectives and practices, communication ability, leadership qualities, and overall academic standing.
The Outstanding Sustainability in Action Project will recognize a project undertaken during the winter 2021 offering of ENVS 401. Projects being considered for this award should have demonstrated innovative thinking, interdisciplinary knowledge of sustainability issues, and teamwork in problem-solving. Nominated projects should also have worked to mobilize knowledge emerging from the project, and have the potential to impact campus or community sustainability.
Nominations letters should describe how the candidate (Certificate in Sustainability Excellence Award) or project (Outstanding Sustainability in Action Project) exemplifies strength in the areas identified above. Nominations from students, faculty, or other university members will all be considered, including self-nominations or nominations of peers. Ideally, student nominations will be accompanied by a letter of support from a university employee or other mentor (external from the university is acceptable).
All nominations should be submitted to sustainability.certificate@usask.ca on or before April 9, 2021. Awards will be announced in May.
